Judy Cassab CBE, Hon. PhD., AO
| Vienna born Judy Cassab was raised by her grandparents in Hungary. Migrating to Australia after World War II, Judy has become one of Australia’s best known portraitists. Three times winner of the coveted Archibald Prize, she has steadfastly followed her own path with a personal style that is accessible and easily recognised. Known in particular for her insightful portraits of fellow artists and public figures from the arts community, Judy has documented a journey through nearly fifty years of Australian artistic achievement. |

John Coburn studied at the National Art School in Sydney, where he subsequently became a teacher, and eventually Head of School. In 1980, John Coburn was awarded the Order of Australia (AM), and in 1991 he received an Hon. D. Litt, James Cook University, Townsville. He has exhibited widely in Australia, Paris, New York, Washington and Hong Kong. The abstract paintings and tapestries of John Coburn depict the beauty of nature and the spiritual relationship with landscape. Having designed two large tapestries for the Sydney Opera House curtains, and a series of seven for the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, Washington, John’s style is internationally respected. |

Margaret Coen was born in Yass in 1909 and died in Sydney in 1993. She studied under Dattilo Rubbo and then at the Royal Art Society School with Sydney Long, and later with friend Normal Lindsay. In 1945, she married famed Australian poet Douglas Stewart. Margaret established a reputation as a fine watercolourist and is highly acclaimed for her flowerpieces and landscapes, many of which were inspired by her home environment at St. Ives. |
